Colon hydrotherapy is a procedure for clearing waste from the large intestine. A trained colon therapist, using modern equipment and a series of warm-water fills and releases, can help remove material that may have been sitting in the colon for months or even years.
Using gravity and gentle, low-pressure flow, filtered water is introduced into the colon. The water softens and breaks up waste, which is then expelled through the body's natural peristalsis. The term "hydrotherapy" combines hydro (water) and therapy — using water to both cleanse and stimulate the colon. Related but less complete procedures include colonic irrigation, high colonics, colon lavage, and enemas.
My approach
My job as a colon hydrotherapist is to help you restore your colon to its peak functioning ability. I'm not just in the business of treating emergencies, and I don't operate as a triage unit — that's a short-term fix with only minor benefits. My intent is to help you achieve long-term benefits and a happy, healthy life.
When you come to me, I'll expect you to be ready to take responsibility for your own health, and I'll support you in that by sharing the knowledge and experience I've accumulated over the last 30 years.
What is your colon, and why does it matter?
Your colon is a hollow, tube-like muscle roughly five to five and a half feet long and about two and a half inches in diameter. After a meal, food moves from your stomach through the small intestine and finally into your colon. The colon's main jobs are to synthesize certain nutrients (like vitamins B and K and folic acid), absorb water, and store waste for elimination.
A healthy colon hosts trillions of beneficial microorganisms — flora like Bacillus coli and Acidophilus — that support digestion and help the body defend itself. Many people simply think of the colon as the body's waste-disposal system, and like any disposal system, problems show up quickly when it gets blocked (constipation) or irritated (chronic diarrhea).
Why colon health is worth your attention
We're exposed every day to a lot of things the body has to process — in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. To keep up, the body relies on its main elimination organs: the skin, lungs, kidneys, and colon. When one of them falls behind, the others have to take on more of the load.
When the colon is overwhelmed by poor diet, stress, illness, or medications, irregular bowel movements and a buildup of waste can follow. A significant portion of the body's immune tissue lives in the gut, which is part of why supporting a well-functioning colon can have such a noticeable ripple effect on how someone feels day to day.
How colon hydrotherapy supports a healthy colon
Colon hydrotherapy is a safe, effective cleansing process when performed by a trained therapist. For many people who try it, it becomes a turning point — not a magic fix, but a way of giving the body a much better foundation to work from.
If you haven't been feeling like yourself lately — recurring lack of energy, sluggish digestion, ongoing constipation or diarrhea — the colon is often a good place to start looking. Sometimes the simplest approach is the most useful one: rather than reaching for another laxative or over-the-counter remedy, give the body a chance to do what it's designed to do.
Colon hydrotherapy is a cleansing process — not a cure or treatment for disease. By removing built-up waste without drugs or chemicals, the body has a much better chance of getting back to a comfortable, regular rhythm.
